Our Birchbarkberry t-shirt honors Wiigwaasatig, the sacred birch tree and Wiigwaas, birchbark. Wiigwaasatig and Wiigwaas were a pillar in Anishinaabe survival. Throughout history, Anishinaabe people would utilize birch for shelter and sustenance. It was used for harvesting, preserving, and preparing food and medicine and for arts, crafts, adornments, and souvenir pieces used among one another and for trading.

Naan Miscobineshii Fowler, an Animation/ Design student at University of Wisconsin-Stout designed Birchbarkberry in a birchbark appliqué design, an old Anishinaabe art form created by sewing layers of birchbark together to form beautiful designs. Every t-shirt sale helps to fund Naan’s Senior year of college.
