Melissa Niigaaniigaabowikwe Fowler poses with two birchbark pieces at the MacRostie Art Gallery exhibit, “Endazhi-Dabendagoziyaan: The Place Where I Belong,” a cape-style birchbark dance cape and birchbark crossbody purse. Melissa spoke on these pieces at the opening reception on March 7th, “Art has empowers me to decolonize the way that I support my family as a working mom by doing what I love, living on my own terms, and being present in my children’s lives.” Melissa’s birchbark exhibit has been extended at the MacRostie through April, with some items onsite for purchase.
